Job Summary
Responsible for the general management of the Circulation Desk. Communicates library services, policies and procedures to students, faculty and staff. Provides oversight to library staff and resources.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
• Provides supervision and guidance to circulation staff and student assistants
• Provides training and scheduling of staff and student assistants
• Interviews and hires library staff; prepares paperwork for human resources
• Prepares and implements circulation procedures
• Prepares and process access reports for District Services, Librarians and Business Services
• Conducts technical processing for new and deleted books
• Catalogs Reserve materials
• Supervises the maintenance of all Library collections
• Resolves issues related to overdue library materials and patron account holds/blocks
• Hires, schedules, and supervises circulation support staff and student workers
• Verifies time cards for circulation support staff and student workers
• Conducts training for all new circulation support staff and student workers
• Performs evaluations on all circulation support staff
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
PERIODICALS LIBRARY MANAGER
• Maintains the Periodicals areas, Newspapers areas and Legal Research Center book-stacks which includes but is not limited to: ensuring there is accurate signage, shifting parts of the collection to make shelving space (this involves some bending, lifting, and moving items and pushing book trucks), processing and shelving incoming periodicals, microfilm, newspapers and legal materials, organizing and discarding older issues as appropriate
• Notifies Technical Services and librarian(s) for claims of missing items
• Assists in updating the on-line catalog when there are changes in periodical holdings
• Follows district procedure for deletions of periodicals, including preparation of spreadsheet files
• Assists in preparing periodicals for the bindery, keeping files organized, processing intercampus periodical loans, collecting periodical use statistics, and light maintenance on personal computer

Required Minimum Qualifications
• Associate’s degree or 60 college hours and four (4) years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a library
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with computerized systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
