Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
JOB SUMMARY :
The adjunct collaborative pianist/instructor will perform responsibilities up to 6 credit hours each semester. Responsibilities may include teaching group piano courses and private applied piano lessons. In addition, the adjunct pianist may be asked to collaborate with other music faculty for ensemble rehearsals, ensemble performances, student recitals, applied juries, and other collaborative opportunities when needed.
The adjunct instructor reports to the Chair of the music department and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences and is responsible for supporting and advancing the mission and goals of the university, college, and department in all academic, scholarly and student support activities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS :
Private and small group instruction; ensemble rehearsals and performances.

Essential Duties Summary
- Prepare for weekly class piano instruction for all music majors and minors based on learning outcomes at each level
- Prepare for weekly applied piano lessons for music majors and minors who are piano principals
- Evaluate student learning through informal and formal assessment practices
- Provide ongoing feedback to students through grading rubrics and responding to students via email in a timely manner
- Prepare and rehearse repertoire for ensemble rehearsals,
including but not limited to:
- University Choir
- Opera Workshop
- Prepare and rehearse repertoire for junior and senior recitals of music majors, both instrumental and vocal.
- Perform prepared repertoire in collaboration with ensembles and students for performances, recitals, and end-of-semester juries.
- Attend required trainings and/or meetings related to teaching and learning or administrative responsibilities
- Be available for students during weekly office hours equal to 2 hours for every 3 credit hours taught
- Perform other tasks related to teaching in the music department
