Job Summary:
The Center for Bioethics and Humanities is hiring for multiple data analyst positions on a rolling basis. Selected candidates will support research teams of economists, physicians, and health services researchers in quantitative research using data sources including Medicare claims and survey data to study health and healthcare utilization among older adults.
Create and analyze linked datasets to understand the relationships between financial behaviors and health and impacts of policy changes on the quality and efficiency of healthcare for the elderly. Gain hands-on experience in many dimensions of health economics and health services research working on studies with immediate clinical and policy relevance. These positions will span the career development ladder, with options ideal for early career researchers considering PhD programs and other independent research careers and well as for more experienced researchers looking to lead analytic cores or research papers tied to larger projects. We offer flexible work schedules and the ability to take classes through the University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and analyze administrative, survey, and health system data using econometric methods
- Prepare tables and figures for papers, presentations, and grants
- Coordinate members of the study team and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prioritize work across multiple studies or deadlines
- Contribute to research manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as a Research Instructor or Research Associate based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Research Instructor
- Prior research experience
- PhD degree prior to starting position
- Experience with large data sets and econometrics for causal inference
- Experience summarizing results in reports and methods sections of manuscripts.
- Prior research experience including publications
- PhD degree prior to starting position

- Prior experience programming in Stata and other programs
- Econometrics and related coursework/research experience
- Familiarity with the US healthcare system

- Data management, programming and analytical skills
- Ability to work with large datasets
- Excellent written communication
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to independently manage aspects of large research projects such as leading a paper or managing data core

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Research Instructor: $70,000 - $100,000
Research Associate: $80,000 - $120,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
