Position Title: Rural Certified Nurse-Midwifery Lecturer Positions

Job Summary:
The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking Rural Certified Nurse-Midwifery Lecturers with experiential and academic preparation to provide clinical supervision, site coordination, mentorship, and administrative support to graduate students in the Rural Midwifery Track. Clinical teaching responsibilities will be designated by the Midwifery Specialty Director. The Rural Midwifery Lecturer will serve as the primary subject matter expert in rural midwifery practice.
The Rural Certified Nurse-Midwifery Lecturers will report directly to Nurse-Midwifery Education Program Specialty Director Shannon Pirrie and works collaboratively with Colorado Rural Midwifery Workforce Expansion Program Project Director, Graduate Program Manager, preceptors, students, mentors to students, admissions committee, and more.
Examples of Work Performed:
Clinical Supervision
- Ensuring the learning experience provided in the learning area is congruent with the overall course objectives and education program standards.
- Content area includes the core competencies for basic midwifery practice: antepartum, intrapartum, post-partum care, well-woman care, contraceptive care, problem oriented GYN care, primary care for women, and well-newborn care.
- Encourage a culture of belonging, grounding learning in mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, diversity and ethics, as well as personal and professional development.
- Serves as the liaison between CU Nursing/Course coordinator/SD, preceptors, and the rural clinical sites where students are assigned. Will discuss learning needs and course objectives to personnel with the clinical facility. Required to access CU Nursing information systems, Email, Canvas, InPlace, or similar programs/systems utilized for tracking student clinical experiences. Site coordination includes consistent site visitation to ensure high quality learning experience for student in the rural midwifery track.
- Evaluation: collaboration with course coordinator/SD will track evaluative data (that is tracking systems such as InPlace, Student Clinical Evaluations), and sharing data with student they are directly supervising. Final eval will be responsibility of the lecturer in collaboration course coordinator/SD. Will participate in evaluation of preceptors and clinical sites. Will provide preceptor orientation for new preceptors and serve as a resource for existing preceptors.
- In collaboration with SD and rural midwifery track leadership, will be responsibility for content development and content teaching within the rural midwifery track. Serve as principal coordinator of rural midwifery track mentors for students within the rural midwifery track.
- Will participate in CU College of Nursing Midwifery Rural Track Intensives up to 4 times per year . Will also attend clinical conferences (4.0 hrs/month), which will primarily be via teleconference and will periodically occur on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.
- Develop and deliver course content on the professional work of rural midwives for the purpose of preparing new graduates for clinical practice in rural settings. The Lecturer will draw upon their experiential expertise in addition to published literature to develop the learning materials in collaboration with Rural Track leaders and faculty.
- Along with the Midwifery Specialty Director, the Lecturer will participate in the admissions process, including interviewing potential students for the rural midwifery track.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Lecturer:
- Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- Current or eligible for licensure as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in the State of Colorado.
- Graduate degree from an accredited institution within midwifery.
- One year experience practicing as an accredited midwife within a rural health care system or community setting.
- Currently practicing in midwifery.
- Must have current and ongoing BLS
- Neonatal resuscitation provider
- Must be willing and able to travel to clinical sites and the Anschutz Medical Campus as needed for job related duties.
- Has current or previous experience precepting for midwifery programs, nurse practitioner programs, or within medicine.
- Doctoral degree – DM (Doctorate of Midwifery), PhD, or DNP
- Familiarity with email, electronic communications, student related software, and distance meeting software such as zoom.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Ability to critically think and problem-solve to achieve program objectives.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Lecturer - $46.92/hour
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
