Position Summary:

The Master of Social Work Program invites applications for an annually renewable continuing

appointment at the rank of Director of Social Work Practicum Experience. This is a full-time position

commencing on August 1, 2024. The successful candidate will have earned an MSW degree from a

CSWE-accredited MSW Program and have at least 2 years, post-MSW experience.


• Develop professional connections with social work-related organizations

• Secure practicum placement sites for Wingate social work students at the generalist and

specialized levels

• Develop policies and other documents, in alignment with CSWE standards, connected to the

practicum experience.

• Develop a system for tracking student progress, including, but not limited to, accrued

practicum hours, site visit notes, and mastery of competencies as outlined by CSWE

• Coordinate and lead orientations and other trainings for practicum instructors.

• Coordinate and lead orientations and other trainings for MSW students in the practicum


• Engage in service to the Master of Social Work Program, Wingate University, profession and


• Create and sustain a Social Work Practicum Program that is supportive and affirming of anti-

racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI)

• Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Provost

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to engage with and develop professional connections with social work-related


• Ability to coordinate and secure practicum placement sites for MSW students in the local area

(Union County and the greater Charlotte region), the region (North and South Carolina), and

potentially additional locations in the United States

• Ability to develop policies and other documents connected to the practicum experience

• Proficiency in computer technology, including, but not limited to, online learning management

systems, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

• MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited Master’s Program

• Two years post-MSW practice experience

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

• Capacity to drive and meet with community partners in various settings in the county and


• Capacity to meet with colleagues in various settings across campus

• Communication both verbally and in writing with colleagues, students, and community
