Position Summary:
The End User Computing & Audio-Visual Technician plays a crucial role in providing advanced technical support within the university community, acting as a tier 2 support specialist. This role involves closely monitoring ticket escalations, resolving complex issues, and working collaboratively with other End User Computing Technicians and IT units to enhance the technological environment for faculty, staff, students, and guests. The technician is instrumental in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting a broad range of technology resources, ensuring a seamless and efficient computing environment across the university.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor ticket escalations from initial points of contact, providing tier 2 support and resolving complex technical requests efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with other End User Computing Technicians and all IT units, especially the help desk staff, to ensure cohesive support and problem resolution across the technology landscape. Coordinate technology support and the provision of technology-related services, including computer networking, computing devices, peripheral equipment, administrative information systems, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Administer and deploy examination and educational software.
  • Participate in the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of computer labs, classrooms, and other multi-use spaces, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary technology and are ready for use by the university community.
  • Actively participate in the preparation and dissemination of information, documentation, and knowledge base articles regarding technology services. Conduct training sessions on areas of expertise to enhance the technical skills of the university community.
  • Support audio-visual equipment and facilities, including troubleshooting issues, training users, researching solutions, providing event support, and collaborating with staff on new audio-visual project installations.
  • Participate in the responsibility for the programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of audio-visual control systems, such as Extron, enhancing the functionality and reliability of A/V resources across the university.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required to support campus events or manage emergencies, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of technology services.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven experience with IT service management tools and ticketing systems, adept at managing and solving advanced technical issues.
  • Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure, demonstrating excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation, complemented by effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts across varied audiences.
  • At least two years of experience in a networked computing environment, with a strong background in providing tier 2 support and technical advice.
  • Ability to physically manage IT equipment, with the capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of software deployment and management tools, such as Microsoft SCCM and JAMF, with the ability to support diverse software applications efficiently.
  • Understanding of key security principles, including data protection, backup strategies, and malware prevention, to safeguard university technology assets.


Typical Work Schedule

Monday -Friday 8am to 5pm with willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required to support campus events or manage emergencies, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of technology services.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Significant amount of walking between campus buildings. Frequent crawling under desk for computer setup/troubleshooting. Ability to lift 50lbs. Frequent ladder use and mounting of AV equipment.

Salary: $26.74/hour
