  • Master’s or PhD in sociology
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level (in person and/or online)

Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Sociology is one of 17 departments housed in the Appalachian State University College of Arts and Sciences. It has 21 full-time faculty members, serving approximately 170 undergraduate majors, and offers minors in sociology and health and aging. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instructional duties typically include a 4:4 teaching load, student advising, curriculum development, honors thesis mentorship, and in-person and online instruction.
  • Faculty members are also expected to participate in service activities that support the department.
  • This position also includes the opportunity for additional compensation through summer teaching and will have access to department travel funds to support attending workshops, training, and professional conferences.
