Job Description

Responsibilities:

Applications for Part-Time, Adjunct Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District and will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

This is a part-time Journalism Instructor position to teach Journalism 101-02, Monday/Wednesday from 8:35 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Surveys the mass media institutions, functions, interrelationships, and effects on society. Provides a building block in the general education of the non-major student and as the introduction to the discipline of study for the communication/journalism major.

Master’s in Journalism or Communication with specialization in Journalism
OR
Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in English, History, Communication, Literature, Composition, Comparative Literature, any Social Science, Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Graphics or Photography

Valid California Community College Credential in Journalism
OR
the equivalent

Salary:

$75.33 to $92.64 per lecture hour AND $62.52 to $76.89 per lab hour (equity fall/spring semester).

$68.76-$75.42 per lecture hour AND $57.08-$62.60 per lab hour (part-time/overload) non-instructional.

Finalized Salary Placement is based on units beyond a bachelor’s degree with a master’s degree conferred.
