Position Details
The Department of Economics and the College of Social Studies (CSS) invite applications for a visiting position beginning July 1, 2024 and renewable for up to two additional academic years to teach courses in the Department and in theCSS, a multidisciplinary program featuring courses in economics, government, history, and social theory. The teaching load is four courses per academic year, of which theCSScomponent will comprise one to four small seminar-style classes. In addition, the visitor will be expected to contribute to academic advising and senior thesis supervision within the College. Wesleyan values both scholarship and teaching very highly, has a strong, diverse undergraduate student body, and offers competitive salaries and benefits. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated effectiveness conducting small, discussion- and writing-intensive classes addressing broader social, historical, and policy themes.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Economics or related field in hand required by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Visiting Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as a Visiting Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Economics or related field within one year of hire.
