Florida State College at Jacksonville invites applications for the collegewide role of Associate Provost of Liberal Arts and Sciences (AP-LAS). This position oversees the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which houses the College's AA transfer, general education, and dual enrollment programs. The AP-LAS supervises a collaborative team of LAS Deans who lead talented faculty in one of five general education disciplines (communication, mathematics, humanities, natural sciences, social behavioral science) as well as the fine and performing arts, world languages, English for Academic Purposes, and developmental education. The AP-LAS team also includes three directors dedicated to programs that extend the College’s connection to the community: Dual Enrollment and Articulations, Civics Career Academies, and fine and performing arts programing at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts. The AP-LAS reports to the College Provost and is a member of the Provost's Senior Academic Leadership Team.

FSCJ is a forward-leaning institution that embraces innovation and continuous improvement, while remaining grounded in a mission focused on educational access and success that reflects its beginnings as a community college. Strong applicants will have prior experience in teaching and academic leadership at the college level. In addition to fundamental skills in academic administration (e.g., scheduling, budgeting, curriculum, governance), we seek someone with a record of achievement and advancement in improving student outcomes, supporting academic rigor, and building a vibrant academic culture as a means of unlocking the College community's best work in teaching and learning. FSCJ is committed to embracing innovation. A key quality we seek in an AP-LAS is the ability to balance a future-oriented vision as part of the College's broader strategic plan with the daily hands-on demands of academic leadership at a large, dynamic college. Effectively achieving this balance requires strong communication and relational skills with faculty and administrators, a capacity for interest-based problem solving, and an approach to “getting things done” that is highly collaborative, adaptive, ethical, and characterized by a willingness to address challenges directly and with care.

At a minimum the selected candidate must have a Master’s degree from an accredited institution supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of related experience and three (3) years of full-time college teaching, liberal arts, workforce development or student services experience. The preferred candidate will have a Doctorate degree from an accredited institution supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education, preferably a combination of teaching and administrative duties in Liberal Arts and Sciences.

In addition to a competitive base salary FSCJ offers an excellent benefits package that includes affordable health, dental and vision insurance plans, participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS), College provided term life insurance and long-term disability (LTD) coverage, a generous leave package, as well as many other benefits.
