Position Summary

The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach applied lesson in trumpet, coach brass chamber music, recruit trumpet students, oversee MUED 171 and coordinate the Brass Area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach the following courses:
    • MUSP 125, 225, 325, 625 and 725 Applied Trumpet
    • MUSC 399 Senior Recital, MUSC 699 Final Recital
    • MUSC 797 Performer’s Certificate Recital
    • MUSP 317/617 Brass Ensemble.
  • Supervise the Brass GA for MUED 171 Instrument Techniques and Materials: Brass
  • Serve as Coordinator the brass area.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in music with professional experience, outstanding studio teaching and trumpet performance skills and a record of creative collaboration with diverse colleagues and students.
Additional Requirements
  • Demonstrate and document a commitment to student success, particularly for first-generation and traditionally under-represented groups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree or equivalent professional achievement, experience teaching trumpet and other relevant curriculum at the collegiate level, evidence of successfully recruiting music majors and the ability to lead the brass area.
