Job Summary
The Department of English and World Languages is seeking applications for Limited Term Lecturers (LTLs) in English. LTL positions are temporary, non-benefits eligible, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis.
The Primary Responsibilities of successful candidates will be to:
- Teach on campus and/or online courses in introductory English courses
- Follow the syllabus and curricula provided.
- Maintain office hours and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
- Maintain FERPA and Title X certification
- Assist with program-related duties and administrative tasks, including placement, orientation, proctoring, student evaluations, curriculum and program review
- Understand and adhere to University policies and guidelines
- Have competency in effective and appropriate online (synchronous and asynchronous) delivery and in-person instruction
- Master’s degree in English or a related field (minimum 18 hours of graduate work in English)
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level or relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English

College Profile
The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences serves over 1,500 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students across a wide range of programs. The College also houses the Community Counseling Center that provides quality affordable mental health services and the Institute for Social and Policy Research, which uses social science and policy analysis methods to find solutions to educational, social, and health-related challenges facing the citizens of Northwest Indiana and the Chicago metropolitan region. The college is also home to the Willie T. Donald Exoneration Advisory Coalition to support those who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Indiana.
