Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist


Acadience Learning Inc. (ALI) is looking for a Research Scientist to join our team. ALI is an educational research and development company located in Eugene, OR.  Our mission is to improve outcomes for children and support school success by developing and conducting research on practical, innovative, and powerful assessment and curricular tools that can be used to promote educational success for students, educators, and school systems (www.acadiencelearning.org). We are looking for a scientist who has extensive knowledge in assessment construction, specifically, universal screening, progress monitoring, and formative evaluation. Experience with Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) and General Outcome Measures (GOM) is highly desired but not required.  Consistent with our mission, we’re looking for someone who is committed to using this knowledge base to make things better for students and educators.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Scientist plans, designs, and conducts research as a member of a research team. The Research Scientist leads or co-leads research projects on educational assessment and curricular tools within the Acadience suite of assessments or more generally in the area of educational assessment and intervention to prevent academic problems and promote positive academic outcomes for students and schools. This position is a full-time, remote position.  Work hours will be determined based upon location and company needs. 


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the implementation of research studies including:
    •   Research design and study planning
    •   Supervision and direction of a project team
    •   Data collection (including training of data collectors)
    •   Data analysis
    •   Data summarization and dissemination
    • Writing product manuals for market
  • ​​Works with the research team to help establish priority areas of research and relatedresearch questions
  • Writes research reports and submissions to professional journals
  • Presents findings at professional conferences
  • Contributes to the writing of research grants and RFPs
  • Provides oversight and contributes to the development of professional development materials related to Acadience suite of assessments 
  • After the completion of research, provides oversight for, and contributes to, the following:
    • Coordinating with publishing company for the publication of product
    • Participating in marketing (e.g., webinars, blog posts, newsletter articles)


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Education, or related field
  • At least two years experience conducting educational research and working within a team environment
  • Extensive knowledge in assessment construction, specifically, universal screening, progress monitoring, and formative evaluation.
  • Strong organizational/project management skills 
  • Research design and data analysis skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) and General Outcome Measures (GOM) is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of research and experience with educational assessment. Experience with Acadience Assessments is desirable
  • Knowledge and expertise in Spanish Language assessment, French Language assessment, or multilingual assessment
  • Evidence of successful publication and/or grant writing
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis (e.g., regression, multilevel models, item response theory)
