Job Description:

The Director of Equity Compliance serves as the Title IX Coordinator, and the Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity (AA/EO), ADA/Section 504 Coordinator, and ensures compliance with these laws and policies and all related state and federal regulations. We expect the candidates for the role to have at least two years of experience as a Title IX coordinator with the appropriate certifications.

The Director will provide leadership in promoting an understanding of these regulations and policies within a college community that is student-centered, mission-focused, and committed to student and employee success. The position manages the College's Title IX efforts, including ensuring that all members of the campus community are well informed about their rights and responsibilities under Title IX, which prohibits sex and/or gender-based discrimination in all educational programs and activities.

The responsibilities include planning, organization, and implementation of Curry College's institutional compliance with federal and state regulations regarding unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

Essential Functions:

1. Compliance and Oversight

  • As the Title IX Coordinator, this position is responsible for investigations, report writing, hearings, and other related duties;
  • Assist Public Safety, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Community Standards & Accountability, Athletics, IT, Office of Disability Services, and other offices and stakeholders to effectuate compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, AA/EO, ADA/Section 504, Title IX and the Clery Act;
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Title IX Deputy Coordinators, investigators, appeal officers, Legal Counsel, and other stakeholders and constituents across the College to oversee complaint resolution and training requirements;
  • The accommodations process will remain in Academic Affairs, while this role is responsible for overall ADA/Section 504 compliance, including creating policy and ensuring technological and college-wide compliance;
  • Serve as a liaison both internally and externally to develop working relationships with other departments, local law enforcement, legal representatives, and victim advocacy organizations to ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and memoranda of understanding are in effect.

2. Policy Development, Communication, and Training

  • Develop, maintain, implement and communicate the College's discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual harassment, and sexual violence policies;
  • Manage and coordinate the efforts of the College's designated Deputy Title IX Coordinators and work collaboratively with them to promote informed and consistent communication with all campus constituents about related policies and implementation;
  • Develop and implement educational initiatives and tracking mechanisms for faculty and staff training, including providing training for new employees and ensuring compliance with ongoing training requirements by all mandated employees;
  • Ensure training for all mandatory reporters, internal investigators, hearing officers, Student Affairs staff, Human Resources staff for unlawful harassment; Title IX training for student leaders and student employees; and posting of training materials in compliance with Title IX;
  • Support the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator in the delivery of sexual and relationship violence educational initiatives for students. 

3. Complaint Resolution

  • Oversee complaint resolution consistent with Curry policies and procedures;
  • Meet with parties regarding complaints of unlawful discrimination, harassment, retaliation, including sexual violence, to provide information regarding available resources and reporting and resolution options; 
  • Oversee resolution of complaints involving alleged discrimination and harassment by or against students, faculty and staff, including investigations and hearings;
  • Facilitate supportive measures and remedies to address complaints and identify systemic problems to inform prevention programming.

4. Trend Analysis

  • Track and analyze complaints, assessing and addressing trends in reporting or climate concerns;
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of regular campus climate surveys.

5. Committee Oversight and Participation

  • Chair the College's Title IX Steering Committee;
  • Serve on the BIRT Committee;
  • Supervises the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator staff position;
  • Serve on other relevant campus committees.

Additional Functions:

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the VP of Human Resources.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of individuals and manage highly sensitive and difficult matters;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in application of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to discrimination and harassment based on a variety of identities, including race, age, national origin, religion, sex, gender, disability, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Affirmative Action, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitative Act, and ADA., and compliance issues; experience in conflict resolution, investigations, and grievance procedures; demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and manage complex and highly sensitive situations; and experience in developing and presenting workshops.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to follow-up, follow-through, multi-task, set priorities and adhere to deadlines.

Salary Range:

$100,000 to $110,000 annually
