DEPARTMENT: School of Arts, Communication and Humanities

REPORTS TO: Chair

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 2024

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt



PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Adjunct Instructor or Adjunct Professor (non-tenure track) in English, with a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree (minimum 18 credit hours in English) in the field from an accredited institution, and commitment to teaching composition in a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).



SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Teaching English courses, especially English Composition I and II, as defined by the Faculty Handbook.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Duties including but not limited to: teaching 1-2 introductory general education courses in composition, in various formats including face to face and online modes.


OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Applicants must submit a letter of application including graduate transcript(s), curriculum vitae, and three current letters of recommendation indicating teaching philosophy and adaptability to course modalities. Applicants will be accepted immediately until the position is filled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
  • Master's degree in English, classroom teaching experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
  • This position requires working in an office and/or classroom setting.
