POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in Interventional Cardiology. Faculty in the HSCP series are expected to engage in teaching, demonstrate professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative work, and University and public service

The applicant will join an award winning diverse and inclusive cardiology team that is composed of 7 interventional and structural cardiologists, in addition to general, imaging, heart failure and electrophysiology colleagues. You can expect on average (1:6) call as an interventionalist at a level one trauma center and STEMI receiving center. The hospital has an active Hospitalist service with significant coverage for many patients. You will be expected to rotate through the teaching service at the ICU level and as well as consult on patients on non-cardiovascular services. Clinic duties will be at minimum one full day a week with a second one-half clinic day on certain weeks to help see patients referred to the ever-growing structural heart program. A timely approach to dictations and electronic medical record upkeep is mandatory.

The applicant will be expected to educate at all levels including medical students, interns, residents, and cardiology fellows. The applicant will work with 15 general cardiology fellows, an imaging fellow, interventional coronary fellow and structural heart fellow.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

o M.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.P.H., or equivalent degree
o Possess training and experience in percutaneous coronary intervention and complex coronary intervention, including complete higher risk indicated percutaneous coronary intervention (CHIP) with an emphasis on chronic total occlusions.
o Experience with and formal training in structural heart procedures and a desire to continue that practice.
o Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
o Strong personal skills
o Experience or interest in working in a diverse workplace
o Strong desire to participate in an active cardiovascular research program
o Interest in the growth and success of the Division

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

o Board certification/eligibility in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology
o Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of California
o Completion of a ACGME accredited fellowship or equivalent experience
