Position Function

Primary function is to assist the University Controller with various project assignments, timelines, and delegated duties. Responsible for accurate data collection, analysis and graphing of financial data. Must keep current on Governmental Accounting Standards Board ( GASB ) pronouncements and screen contracts for potential accounting and reporting issues related to GASB . Support year-end financial reporting. Responsible for providing assistance to the University Tax and Business Advisor as needed.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment.

Minimum Experience

No experience required.

Minimum Other

Superior proficiency with Excel; excellent problem solving skills; ability to communicate difficult concepts; ability to work independently as well as contribute as a member of a team; must be analytical, highly organized, and detail oriented; ability to learn new software applications.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Preferred Experience

Financial accounting, fund accounting, or audit experience; experience in university or fund accounting.

Preferred Other

Knowledge of GASB pronouncements or working with a governmental entity. Proficient with Microsoft Suite products.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Duty

Provide project management services by updating project tasks, maintaining timelines and collecting and organizing information for various MOUs and other campus initiatives. Work closely with other areas within the Controller’s departments to enhance communications and data sharing.

Support the Controller with creating and maintaining various financial data metrics that include historical records and trend analysis. Provide charts, graphs and PowerPoint presentations to visually show the changes and data associations.

Stay abreast of current Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements and implementation guides. Assist with the development of workflows and decision trees for relevant GASB topics. Support the Controller to disseminate GASB summaries and reviews to relevant parties.

Review all contracts in regards to topics covered by GASB pronouncements using workflows and decision trees. Move appropriate contracts to the University Controller or University Tax and Business Advisor for further review.
