Southwestern College is looking for Part-Time Automotive Technology Instructors. Classes may be held during weekdays, weekends and/or evenings. The anticipated start date is Spring, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications (Faculty and Academic Administrator Positions Only)

Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience
Any associate degree and six years of professional experience
Possession of a valid California Community College Instructor Credential
The equivalent

Desired Qualifications:
  • California Smog License
  • Additional ASE Certifications will allow a candidate to teach additional classes
  • The District will allow 6 months to obtain A1-A8 ASE certifications.
  • Candidates will have 1 Year to obtain L1 ASE Certification.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

ASE Certification G1, A6 Required.

All District students and employees must participate in the COVID -19 Vaccination Program, which requires them to be fully vaccinated against COVID -19 unless they receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
Working Conditions:


$85.49-$96.76 per lecture hour AND $70.96-$77.82 per lab hour (equity fall/spring semester).

$77.71-$85.25 per lecture hour AND $64.52-$70.76 per lab hour (part-time/overload) non-instructional.

Finalized Salary Placement is based on units beyond a bachelor's degree with a master's degree conferred.

Work Schedule:

Must be available to work 2, 3.5 hour shifts per week, Monday -Saturday, between the hours of 8 am - 9 pm.

Successful candidate may be assigned to any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, and/or San Ysidro).
