Job Summary

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Departmentin the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time Non-Tenure-Track ( NTT ) faculty position encompassing both teaching and research responsibilities. The opening is for a position that starts in the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate is expected to have strong teaching and communication skills and should have the technical capabilities and knowledge to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Thermal Sciences, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Mechatronics and related topics. The successful candidate should also be able to teach undergraduate laboratory courses. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute towards ongoing research initiatives as well as student mentorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to have strong teaching and communication skills and should have the technical capabilities and knowledge to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Thermal Sciences, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics and related topics. The successful candidate will also engage in new and existing research initiatives in the department.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have earned (by the start date) a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related area with teaching/research experience in the field of thermal sciences, heat transfer, thermodynamics or related topics.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience and interest in research topics that align with ongoing research in the department.

Areas of excellence in the MAE department include Renewable Energy and Thermal Management of Multiscale Engineered Systems; Hybrid and Electric Automotive Engineering; Datacenter Thermal Management; Life Cycle Management of Advanced Material Systems and Multiscale Structures; Efficient, Green Propulsion Systems and Control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. UT Arlington has excellent laboratory and computational facilities to support research in the areas of interest, with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities at the Shimadzu Institute Nanotechnology Research Center ( ), Characterization Center for Materials & Biology (C2MB, ) and the University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute ( UTARI, ).
