Assistant to the Director of Compliance/Legal Secretary

Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant to the Director of Compliance/Legal Secretary in the General Counsel's Office.

The candidate would be expected to: manage and maintain a computer database which includes a comprehensive record-keeping and tracking system for compliance programs, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets; provide varied complex legal secretarial and risk management support services organize office activities and coordinate the flow of communications for the Vice President and General Counsel and he Director of Compliance/Risk Manager; assist in the preparation and processing of correspondence, compliance, insurance and financial reports and statistical data, University forms and other required documents for governmental agencies and departmental operations.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Other Requirements:
  • Two or more years’ experience working in a legal, insurance, or related field working in areas of compliance and/or risk management.
  • Proficient writing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic office environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule and coordinate office activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to take and transcribe dictation.
  • Notary public certification.
  • Higher education experience.
