Job Summary

The Associate Provost, under direction, leads organizations and initiatives that provide academic support and out-of-class learning experiences. Establishes short and long-term goals for each program and provides insight in the development of policies and procedures for undergraduate programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides academic leadership and coordination for the University's undergraduate programs, which includes first year experience, research and inquiry, retention, and assessment.
  • Provides direction, guidance, and work incentives for the Provost's office.
  • Conducts studies, develops new initiatives, and contributes to the effective team management of relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.
  • Selects, supervises, and evaluates the Executive Directors and the Directors of general academic programs.
  • Assists in development and implementation of academic policies and programs.
  • Reviews students' requests and appeals.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and final draft proposals for areas under the administrative functions of the office.
  • Oversees and monitors institutional research, which includes student tracking, institutional reports, surveys, outcome assessment measures, and other University data analyses.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Earned doctorate degree (all disciples are welcomed) from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Experience teaching in a college/university setting.
  • Experience with university curricular processes and assessment.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Program development, institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and other accreditation issues.

Ability to:
  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and leadership skills.
  • Understand and implement policies and procedures regarding fiscal, personnel, and academic matters.
  • Mediate and counsel at all levels.
