THE PLACE: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has established itself as the nation’s top undergraduate engineering, science and mathematics college. The scenic campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,200 students with a passion for STEM and learning. Rose is consistently listed among the best colleges and universities in the country, including a No. 1 ranking by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program for 24 years running. Our teaching-focused mission is to provide our students with the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.

THE POSITION: The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Rose-Hulman invites applications for visiting faculty positions with an anticipated start date of August 2024. The department, which continues to experience strong enrollment growth (currently over 500 students), offers B.S. degrees in computer science and software engineering. These programs are accredited by the Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commissions of ABET. The department offers a multidisciplinary second major in data science, a multidisciplinary robotics minor, and several ongoing research projects among its vibrant interdisciplinary initiatives.

Preferred candidates will have a doctorate (or near completion) in computer science, software engineering or closely related fields (including engineering education with an emphasis on these fields), or a master’s degree with relevant experience, and demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Although these positions are expected to be for one year, candidates who meet these qualifications and are seeking a longer-term non-tenure track opportunity are encouraged to apply.  We are looking for candidates who embrace the mission and vision of Rose-Hulman to join our collegial team of 27 faculty. The department and the Institute place a high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who can further broaden and enhance the educational experience of our students are also encouraged to apply.

Essential job responsibilities include teaching and advising students, continued professional development, and service to the department, Institute and professional community. Applicants should submit via https://jobs.rose-hulman.edu a cover letter, a curriculum vitae or resume, a statement on their teaching philosophy and practices, a statement of their professional development/research goals, and a statement regarding their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applicants who advance through the initial screening will be asked for three references to submit recommendation letters.

Detailed information is available from Amanda Stouder, Associate Professor of Practice in Computer Science and Software Engineering, stouder@rose-hulman.edu, 812-877-8138. Initial review of completed applications will begin March 23rd. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
