8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description:
The Associate Director of the Defense Programs is responsible for the development of new financial management courses for the Department of Defense. The associate director will provide instruction to all participants in the current programs, update course content and classroom materials, and determine and evaluate program effectiveness. Additional responsibilities include managing the financial resources and budgets associated with all executive education programs.

Bachelor’s degree required and a master’s degree in Business Administration or Public Administration is highly desirable.

Job Specific Qualifications:
  • Fields of expertise: comptrollership, financial management, resource management, and manpower management.
  • Excellent communication, technology, and presentation skills are required as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience conducting informational/instructional seminars and/or related teaching experience is desirable.
  • Service Member or Department of Defense civilian with ten+ years of resource and financial management experience at senior staff levels is highly desirable.
  • Graduate of the Syracuse University Defense Comptrollership Program is highly desirable.

  • Promote programs and attract students.
  • Design and manage new executive education programs, seminars, conferences, institutes and contract training. Visit federal, state, local and non-profit agencies to promote graduate mid-career and executive education programs for senior managers.
  • Identify specific training needs of various agencies.
  • Recruit and supervise instructors.
  • Teach in executive education seminars and serve as general advisor to students. Develop promotional materials.
  • Maintain budget records and approve expenditures.
  • Interview, select and evaluate performance of support staff.
  • Train and instruct support staff on methods and procedures.
