Alumni & Leadership Engagement Manager

Position Summary:

St. Thomas University invites applications for a full-time Alumni & Donor Engagement Manager. Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Alumni & Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting alumni relations programming and projects and implementing the University’s annual giving campaign, as well as coordination of the Office of Philanthropy’s signature special event series. Primary duties include planning and executing programs and events to cultivate, steward and engage alumni; to grow leaders within our alumni and donor community, as well as implementing an annual giving strategy to meet a defined participation and revenue goal as part of the University’s broader philanthropy agenda.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Develop a series of content-rich programs, services and outreach designed to educate, enrich and engage STU’s alumni. This includes regional and lifelong programming, early engagement (students and young alumni), affinity networks, volunteer engagement and a professional network.

Design event program/content, schedule and manage event speakers, collaborate with Marketing & Communications, and manage event-follow up to achieve desired outcomes.

Work with Philanthropy colleagues to implement event and project logistics, including catering, venue, transportation, signage, decorations, audio/visual, invitation lists, invitations, programs, and presentation materials, as well as drafting event briefing documents for the Vice President, the President and other leadership.

Recruit and engage with alumni event and program hosts, sponsors and content providers to ensure maximum effectiveness and financial efficacy for alumni relations.

Plan, develop and execute multichannel annual giving campaigns including to targeted groups.

Develop and manage efforts to identify, solicit, communicate and renew annual donors.

Develop and launch a leadership annual giving program inclusive of meaningful benefits, stewardship and leadership development opportunities. strategies for constituents and coordinating annual fund events.

Support alumni programming, donor engagement and special events through tracking and database documentation.

Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in programming.

Partner with Career Services to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni, including a mentorship program and creating linkages to internships and career-path employment.

Supervision Received:

Routine assignments are performed independently, following established standard practices.

Supervision Exercised:

Provide supervision over assigned work study students.

Position Qualifications/Specifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required. Three years of progressively responsible experience in a nonprofit organization, university setting, sales or event role preferred.

· The ability to set priorities and achieve timely progress toward goals is essential. Applicants must possess initiative, be detailed-oriented, creative, efficient and able to handle diversified tasks concurrently.

· Must have effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills – to be a leader worth following and listening to.

· The ability to reason logically and analyze and solve organizational and operating problems for one or several program areas.

· Demonstrate ability to operate with a high degree of independence, judgment, and work ethic.

· Must be able to work as part of a dynamic team in a service-oriented, fast-paced environment.

· Must be proficient with Microsoft applications, social media platforms and design software.

· Willing to work extended hours on the weekend/evenings; and travel on a regional/national basis, as needed.
