The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, jointly administered by the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University, invites applications for a full-time term position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice in Biological and Biomanufacturing Systems Technology. This is a 9-month position with job responsibilities in teaching, recruiting and mentoring students, interfacing with relevant industries to provide educational and career opportunities for students, and engaging with other stakeholders to advance the biomanufacturing industry in the state of Iowa.

The successful candidate will teach courses and be a leader in the department’s newly established
Bachelor of Science degree option within the Industrial Technology program that emphasizes biological
and biomanufacturing systems technology (BBST). The degree track prepares students to manage
people, instruments, projects and processes in bio-based industries such as breweries, distilleries,
biofuels, biochemicals, bioproducts, bioplastics, grain, feed, seed, food, or healthcare, using principles of
manufacturing, instrumentation, chemistry, and microbiology. The successful candidate will have a strong
industry background in this space, a track record of successfully training or mentoring early-career
technology specialists, and an ability to effectively network with potential industry stakeholders.
