Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Communications Specialist to implement activities related to communication and dissemination for the newly funded Communities Advancing Science for Society (ComPASS) Coordination Center grant. The role of the Drexel ComPASS Coordination Center (C3) is to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of 25 Community Health Equity Structural Intervention (CHESI) sites across the country. We invite applicants to come and be a part of a team that is dedicated and determined to advance public health as a human right. The successful applicant will have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.

Essential Functions
  • Act as point person and coordinator for all activities related to communications and dissemination of project activities and findings.
  • Track project communication and dissemination metrics (such as media mentions, social media reach, etc.).
  • Write, develop, manage, and update web content as needed for the ComPASS website in collaboration with Project Directors and work closely with web developers, DSPH and Drexel University communications to implement it.
  • Develop annual work plan for project communications and dissemination and collaborate with project faculty and staff.
  • Work closely with the DSPH communications team to ensure that ComPASS content on DSPH website is up-to-date and complete.
  • Take a leading role in developing written content for web and social media as well as print materials such as reports, brochures, and video scripts, in collaboration with input from other project staff and collaborators, with the goal of translating complex research activities and findings into understandable and relatable content for lay audiences.
  • Take a leading role in developing and disseminating regular newsletters and blog posts for members of the ComPASS Consortium, and external audiences.
  • Take a leading role in developing and managing media, graphics, and images for online use, such as short videos, data visualizations (static and interactive), infographics, project photos, etc.
  • Manage all ComPASS social media accounts, working to grow our following and connect strategically with partners. Develop appropriate social media content for the dissemination of consortium successes and research findings.
  • Work collaboratively with the ComPASS Project team to share stories and progress about the ComPASS consortium with consortium members and the public.
  • Develop process for eliciting program stories and successes from 25 Community Health Equity Structural Intervention sites.
  • Create and maintain social media content and graphics, website content, promotional emails, monthly e-newsletters, and marketing materials.
  • Other special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a closely related field or Equivalent
  • • Project management skills, ability to prioritize and complete a wide range of projects to specified deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Excellent time management, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
    • Demonstrated professional writing, editing, and communication skills
    • Experience with email marketing campaigns and e-newsletters
    • Experience with updating and maintaining website content
    • Knowledge of social media, both as a marketer and as a user
    • Experience with design and editing tools, including Photoshop, Canva, Spark, etc.
    • Use excellent judgment in understanding and effectively executing media aligned with our brand identity/style guidelines
    • Be accountable for attention to detail and for meeting deadlines
    • Applicants must be located in or willing to relocate to the Philadelphia, PA area for consideration

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from Minimum: $ 47,490.00 to Maximum: $ 71,230.00 Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
