Job Details

The New School seeks a Development Associate for Schools and Programs to support DAE operations across the university. This position reports to the Vice President, Development and Alumni Engagement. Under their direction, this person will provide administrative support to the individual major giving team who is responsible for the University’s major gifts fundraising, including the 5 Schools of The New School and some selected programs. The primary tasks include--though are not limited to--supporting the Vice President in administrative management; acting as a point of first contact for various alumni, parents, friends and internal campus partners; ongoing tracking and data entry of senior fundraisers’ and Vice President; logistical support for special events, including Board of Governors’ meetings; and frequent collaborative work on a broad array of administrative matters with DAE colleagues and other campus partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparing a spectrum of major gift constituent communications ranging from personalized correspondence, to custom major and/or planned gift proposals, tailored reports and presentations, and communications with the various schools’ Boards of Governors. 

  • Develop administrative systems and processes to improve efficiency of team workflows. 

  • Provide administrative assistance, such as writing and editing emails, drafting memos, and preparing communications on the Vice President’s behalf.

  • Maintain calendar and scheduling for the Vice President noting signature events, key meetings, communications, and travel; coordinate meeting and visit setups as necessary. 

  • Manage data entry for senior fundraisers including donor outreach, correspondence,  meetings, and proposals into the DAE database (Salesforce) under the guidance and direction of Development Research.

  • Provide support in a project management role through proactively organizing and preparing for board meetings and signature events in coordination with Special Events teams across the university. 

  • Coordinate gift in kind donation requests with donors and academic partners under the guidance of the school Directors of Development and Gift Accounting team.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Minimum of three years in a professional office setting, ideally assisting senior level professionals. 

  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. 

  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated ability to confidently establish credibility with stakeholders at all levels.

  • An entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented disposition with the ability to prioritize tasks; anticipate and embrace change; acquire and use new skills; and creatively address challenging tasks.

  • Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage well with a wide diversity of internal and external constituents. 

  • Eager to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse constituencies. 

  • Some evenings and weekend hours are required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.
     

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. 

 

SALARY RANGE

$58,500 - $65,000
