Communications and Social Media Assistant - School of International Service Pre-College Programs.

Job Description:

The School of International Service (SIS) is seeking a dynamic and creative undergraduate or graduate student to join our team as a Communications and Social Media Assistant for our Community of Scholars program. In this multifaceted role, you will not only be responsible for crafting effective communications and managing social media but also contribute to the smooth functioning of general office operations. Work Needs:

The period requiring assistance is early April through July for 10-15 hours/week. Much of the work can be done remotely except for the two weeks (July 8 to 19) of the on-campus program.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design and Create Marketing Materials:
    • Develop visually appealing and informative marketing materials for the School of International Service pre-college programs.

    • Utilize graphic design skills to create eye-catching graphics and edit videos that effectively promote our programs.

  • Social Media Management:
    • Manage and curate content for the official social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook) of the School of International Service Pre-College Programs.

    • Stay updated on social media trends and best practices to make recommendations for enhancing our social media presence.

    • Engage with the online and in-person community, respond to inquiries, and foster positive interactions.

  • Website Oversight:
    • Take charge of the Pre-College Programs' website, ensuring it is regularly updated with the most current information about our offerings.

    • Manage our social media and web presence, suggesting improvements and enhancements to keep the website engaging and user-friendly.

  • General Office Operations:
    • Respond to student, faculty, staff, and external emails in the main office inbox, ensuring timely and professional communication.

    • Work with Pre-College Program Director to run regular data reports each month on engagement in our programming.

    • Collect, analyze, and present key themes of data in correlation with the Data Intern.

    • Manage and organize office information systems, including collecting post-event or post-appointment survey responses, maintaining lists of student engagement, and organizing shared file folders for efficient digital record-keeping.

    • Assist the Director of Pre-College Programs and Data Intern with special projects to enhance programming and resources, contributing to the continuous development of pre-college initiatives.

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student with a focus on Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Proficient in graphic design tools and video editing software.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) and experience managing official accounts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a creative mindset.

  • Ability to manage general office operations, including data collection, analysis, and maintaining information systems.
