Job Summary/Basic Function

The responsibility of this temporary position is to provide assistance to students enrolled in math, science, and industrial courses required as part of an occupational degree. This position will be providing support in and out of the classroom, as needed by students and the instructor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in CHEM 102 (Intro to Chemistry) MATH 102 (Liberal Arts Math), and TECH 105 (Materials of Industry).
  • Completed the equivalent of two years of college course work.
  • Strong foundation in math, and science .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with teaching or tutoring.
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference to candidates with experience in individual and group mentoring and tutoring at the college level.
  • Two years’ experience working at the college level.

Maintain and provide data on students assisted, time spent, and type of assistance provided to supervisor and College Readiness Coordinator.

Serve as resource for math, science and industrial students who are at risk and ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance.

Attend courses as requested by the faculty to ensure consistency of teaching methods and learning outcomes.

Job Duty

Hold office hours/open support time in the HUB .

Any other duties as assigned.
