Scripps Foundation: Assistant Director of Finance to support the organization’s financial and grant-related platforms and to serve as back-up to the Director of Finance and Operations. Scripps is a successful research organization with a strong record of external funding, achieved through a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and positive impact. The Assistant Director of Finance will work collaboratively with the Director of Finance and Operations on financial and grant-related tasks.

•Responsible for various ongoing financial and budgetary tasks including but not limited to the preparation of financial reports and tracking charts.

•Prepare and submit state and federal grant submissions. Submit grants through the Cayuse Research Suite.

•Provide support to Principal Investigator’s with pre-award grant activities and various aspects of proposal preparation including review of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, budget development, preparation of grant submission forms, entering and reviewing Cayuse records for internal proposal routing, gathering institutional data and other information needed for proposals, and completing forms required for proposal submission.

•Responsible for post-award grant activities: set up new grant awards, track expenditures, prepare grant-related payment forms and contract documents, and work with the Grants Office to make sure grants are spent according to funder guidelines.

•Responsible for the retrieval of electronic budgetary files and tracking records related to financial management and grant submissions.

•Responsible for calculating and reporting time and effort reports for personnel on externally-funded grants.

•Other tasks related to the financial and grant management of the Scripps Gerontology Center.

Required: Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience in budgeting or accounting; Associate’s degree with 4 years of professional experience in budgeting or accounting; or 8 years of professional experience in budgeting or accounting; demonstrated ability to create and understand financial data tables, graphs, and charts.

Consideration may be given to candidates with prior pre- or post-award research administratn experience; expertise with Cayuse or other electronic research administration system; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment; attention to detail while providing accurate and timely support to Principal Investigator’s; proficiency in budgeting and word processing software. Experience working administratively in higher education or similar setting, and with Cayuse Research Suite for grant submissions. Knowledge of the aging network and external funding procedures in the field of gerontology, and of federal and state guidelines for grants and contracts.
