Job Description

The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi seeks an Assistant Professional Professor of History beginning Fall 2024. This is a full-time, nine-month position with competitive salary and benefits. Professional faculty positions are non-tenure-track but may be renewable and promotable. The teaching load is five courses per academic semester, to include both halves of the U.S. history survey (which breaks at 1865), and both halves of the world history survey, with priority given to world history through 1500. The successful candidate will be able to offer periodic upper-division courses in their field of specialization. Courses will be taught in face-to-face and online modalities. Professional-line faculty are also expected to perform departmental, college, and university service. The Department of Humanities is committed to TAMU-CC's identity as a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

A PhD in History is required. ABD will be considered, but candidates must have PhD in hand by time of appointment. The successful candidate will have experience teaching one or more of the required courses and a record of effective teaching leading to student success. Candidates in any U.S. field are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to candidates who complement or extend our current course offerings, as well as to those candidates who show interest in coordinating our history and social studies teacher certification program. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate, through their teaching and/or service, that they can contribute to the mission of our university.
