Position Summary:


The School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville is currently in search of a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in food science or closely related fields such as biochemistry and microbiology. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with research groups at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, focusing on the utilization of non-thermal processing technologies for food applications. This position will lead the analysis and interpretation of collected data to support research goals and supervise the creation of oral and written reports to communicate research findings.

This is a full-time position limited to two years (continuation upon availability of funding).


  • Research Planning and Execution:
    • Develops and implements processes, guides staff, analyzes data, and summarizes complex research results for a defined research area or study by utilizing established processes.
    • Designs and implements processes for the preparation of reports and manuscripts and leads the presentation of materials through various communication platforms.
    • Serves as a subject matter expert and main point of contact regarding research analysis and research area operational processes.
  • Collaboration and Team Work:
    • Collaborates with other researchers and lab members on research projects.
    • Attends and contributes to lab meetings through sharing research progress and findings.
    • Contributes to the development of unit strategies, research procedures, and analysis methodologies and recommends improvements to leadership.
  • Publishing and Dissemination:
    • Writes research papers, reports, and reviews for publication in academic journals.
    • Presents findings at conferences, workshops, or symposia.
  • Laboratory Supervision:
    • Supervises and mentors undergraduate students working in the lab. 
  • Grant Writing and Funding:
    • Assists in writing grant proposals to secure funding for research. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Ph.D. degree in food science or closely related fields obtained upon starting the position.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and statistical software.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience with report and technical writing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
