Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as DSO and ARO and maintain University compliance with SEVIS regulations.
  • Manage data and required reporting for the university’s F-1 Students and Perform activities/ updates involving student databases (e.g., Banner and Xtender).
  • Update and maintain the Department of Homeland Security’s SEVIS system of operations for current students.
  • Coordinate with Warhawk Health Services concerning health information and vaccinations.
  • Function as liaison with transfer institutions and refer students to appropriate contacts to assist with the transfer process.
  • Issue Good Standing and invitation letters to current students and alums.
  • Develop procedures to ensure international students and visitors enjoy the full range of benefits associated with F/J status.
  • Advise current international students one-on-one and in groups regarding matters pertaining to F and J status, including Optional Practical Training, Curricular Practical Training, change of status, etc.
  • Complete many duties related to Student and Exchange Visitor Information System ( SEVIS ) record creation, auditing, and reporting (in regard to maintenance of federal regulations; planning)
  • Anticipate and prevent problems impacting international student satisfaction, legal status, and Visa status benefits in order to retain students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the international admissions process
  • Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations ( CFR ) in regards to F-1
  • Knowledge of SEVIS protocol and procedures; knowledge of immigration issues, procedures, concerns, tips, and practices
  • Knowledge of university practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of acceptable advising techniques
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly with non-native speakers of English; good written communication skills
  • Problem-solving/analysis skills
  • Oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and respond to multiple competing demands
  • Ability to process, review, and evaluate student documents
  • Ability to use a computer and relevant software applications, including the Banner® Student Information System
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

2 years of experience in work related to student services

Must meet Homeland Security requirements to serve as Designated School Official/Alternate Responsible Officer
