We are seeking 2 curatorial assistants to work in the Vertebrate Zoology department at the Museum of Natural History.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Position duties (75%) include rehousing fluid-preserved vertebrate specimens and updating their inventory and condition status in the collections database; testing and amending ethanol concentrations; applying archival thermal labels to jars; and quality-checking inventory data mapping errors. Responsibilities (25%) also include performing a walk-in and chest freezer inventory to capture and track our specimen backlog, including cross-referencing unprocessed material with the collections database to prioritize specimen preparation by type (e.g., fluid, skeleton, skin).

  • These are temporary positions.
  • One position will be for 100 hours and the other will be for 200 hours.
  • Each position will be 10 hours/week.
What We Can Offer

These are temporary positions that pay $25.00/hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave .

  • Willing to work in a cold environment and handle frozen animal carcasses using personal protective equipment.
