  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in conducting investigations related to discrimination and Title IX, and/or employee relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant state and federal laws.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting quantitative analysis of case management data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications with an emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to diverse internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with private or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated experience with analyzing problems objectively, making effective recommendations, and assisting with the implementation of solutions to these problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience. Specific experience conducting discriminatory and harassment investigations of protected class status in a university setting.
  • JD or Master’s Degree in a related field such as student affairs, higher education, administration, human resources, conflict resolution, social work.
  • Experience in mediation services.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently .
  • Experience in designing and facilitating programming and training for sexual assault issues in higher education.
  • Certification and/or training in the areas of EEO /AA/ ADA /Title IX (i.e. PHR, SHRM -CP, CAAP, CDR, CDP, ATIXA ).
  • Experience with case management and documentation of intakes and providing supportive measures for students and employees.
Job Description
  • The Compliance Specialist position is responsible for investigating allegations related to harassment, and discrimination based on sex, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and other protected classes. This includes complaints regarding sexual misconduct, sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence. Working under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, the Compliance Specialist will conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, which includes drafting and issuing notices of investigation, identifying and interviewing witnesses and other involved parties, gathering and securing relevant documentation, and drafting and presenting an investigative report.
  • The Compliance Specialist is also responsible for referring students to available resources, offering appropriate supportive measures, and coordinating the investigation and adjudication processes.
  • The Compliance Specialist will also assist with training and prevention education for students, faculty, and staff to support the university’s commitment to providing an environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
Job Duties
  • In accordance with University policies and procedures, lead independent and unbiased investigations, including creating and issuing notice of investigation to involved parties, conducting and reporting on witness interviews, preparing and presenting evidence and appropriate supporting documents, and communicating with the parties and their advisors while protecting the neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation.
  • Draft investigative reports and obtain appropriate supporting documentation related to the resolution of each matter to Assistant Vice President/Title IX Coordinator.
  • Consult with the Office of Human Resources, Office of the Provost, the Office of General Counsel, and other University offices as necessary concerning investigation activities and findings.
  • Respond to inquiries from members of the University community regarding matters related to University discrimination policies.
  • Assist in maintaining OEO’s discrimination case database.
  • Facilitate training/presentations for students, staff, and faculty on Civil Rights, Title IX, and topics related to protected status harassment and discrimination.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with related campus partners, community resources and services, and community leaders.
  • Remain current regarding state and federal law, including but not limited to Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Campus Save Act, Clery Act, and FERPA, as well as current trends in the field of education related to sex discrimination and sexual misconduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
