Posted Salary: Salary based on experience and education, range is $57,000 - $63,000

Job Description:

To enhance the mission of the Department of Residence Life this role supports the Director of Residence Life and Housing Services in all aspects of student housing experience including engagement with prospective students & parents, participation in Rocket Launch New & Transfer Student orientation events and completing all housing assignments using StarRez. This role will provide support in Divisional projects including logistics of each move-in/out process, data analysis and reporting, and Housing process improvements.

The Assistant Director provides oversight for housing and billing including processing cancellations received via email and student housing portal, room change/room buyout fees, and charging cancellation fees. This role will support the Director of Residence Life and Housing Services with the Exemption and Cancellation Petition processes.

Housing Assignments & Software Management:
• Build and maintain the StarRez PortalX platform for housing applications/roommate matching each semester.
• lead the preparation and implementation of departmental automated processes including first-year auto-allocation, upperclassmen room selection/renewal processes, and semesterly fee assessment as necessary.
• Provide oversight of the housing assignments process to include first-year student room assignments and upperclassmen room selection/renewal, in addition to room change request period(s)
• Track and maintain records of students living in campus Housing, including withdrawals, cancellations, exemptions, athletic waivers (if applicable), staff grade verification, as well as staff meal and room benefits.
• Oversee student requests for exemption from the housing live-on requirement/cancellation requests and communicate frequently with the Exemptions/Cancellation committee.
• Work in collaboration with IT to manage the online housing application and implement a marketing campaign for reapplication.
• Track and maintain records of students living in campus Housing, including withdrawals, cancellations, exemptions, athletic waivers, required meal plans, staff grade verification, as well as staff meal and room benefits.
• Serves as the technical and data specialist responsible for maintaining the StarRez database.

Marketing:
• Produce, organize, and send written correspondence related to housing assignments to incoming students.
• Create campaigns for and oversee publications & materials that represent the department's image including all publications related to marketing and occupancy such as special living brochures, themed living communities, summer housing options, newsletters, mailings to prospective and current students/parents, etc.
• Update and maintain the Residence Life website.

Assessment:
• Conduct market analysis, comparing our services to our competitors (off campus housing in Toledo and campus housing at other key institutions). Make recommendations on housing rates, new services or needs of our students, keeping our services competitive.
• Assist the Director of Residence Life & Housing Services with annual student satisfaction surveys.

Student/Family Relations:
• Provide individualized customer service via phone, email, Teams, Zoom/WebEx, and in person to maximize student satisfaction with housing processes and technology/software.
• Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage in collaboration with Residence Life team, as needed, during extended business hours such as, but not limited to, move-in/outs, room selection/assignment processes, summer orientations (Rocket Launch), and other special admissions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Hospitality Management, Communications, or other field required, master’s degree preferred.
• The ideal candidate has three to five (3-5) years' experience on College/University setting with background in Housing & Residential Life Administration or related field.
• Supervisory experience required; two (2) years prior leadership experience is preferred.
• Candidate must have the flexibility to work on several projects concurrently and must demonstrate sensitivity in working with confidential matters.
Strong communication skills, with a proven commitment to working with a diverse student population is required.
• Significant experience in programming coordination and management is expected.
• Ability to work successfully in a team setting and converse with a diverse community including staff, students, and family .
• Needs an understanding of the data base and has the ability to working a team environment of both technical and non-technical staff.
• should also have an understanding of current marketing best practices and trends.
