Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a student-centered Student Success Program Manager! Working under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Retention, The Program Manager will be the resident expert on the university early alert system, supervise a team of Specialists and implement timely personalized outreach campaigns specifically targeting first-year and transfer students.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Daily onboarding and supervision of 8-10 part-time Student Success Specialists. Creates yearly training schedules and content to provide specialists with knowledge and updates on university resources, department procedures, and campus protocols. Leads weekly meetings and training with specialists, providing them with caseload assignments and outreach tasks.
  • Strategically implements timely personalized outreach campaigns, furthering the retention and success of UVU students, prioritizing first-year and transfer students. Oversees university Early Alert Program, updating processes when needed to ensure proper care is given to students in need.
  • Manages, creates, and maintains student outreach data and spreadsheets pulled daily from university data management systems. Collaborate with the University BIRS team to pull reports as needed. Transfers data reports onto outreach platforms and shared team files. Teaches and advises part-time employees on how to manage personal caseload data. Analyzes data after each outreach campaign to review areas of improvement and create program reports.
  • Organizes and executes events/open houses that provide specialists with an opportunity to help students, spread awareness of resources offered in the retention office, and create a friendly and welcoming environment where all students feel comfortable walking in and looking for help.
  • Collaborates with departments and areas across campus on student success initiatives, identifying areas that specialists can be trained in and ensuring no overlap occurs in outreach. Provide Early Alert training to faculty upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years experience. Knowledge of banner student data management and best practices.

    Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

    • Knowledgeable and familiar with customer relationship management.
    • Knowledgeable and familiar with student development theory and practices.
    • Knowledge of relationships between manual and automated processes.
    • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements regarding FERPA regulations.
    • Knowledge of Banner student data management and best practices preferred.
    • Knowledge of UVU processes, resources, and values.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Confidence and skill in leading and managing employees.
    • Skills in interpersonal problem-solving and decision-making.
    • Skills in organizing and maintaining records.
    • Skills in program maintenance, measurement, and organization.
    • Skills in database management.
    • Skills in using computers and computer applications (i.e. spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation etc.).
    • Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks and meet project deadlines.
    • Ability to learn new systems and become an expert while making recommendations to enhance efficiency.
    • Ability to follow directions and work with little to no supervision.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals and groups.
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability and commitment to provide excellent customer service and a willingness to be a team player. Ability to instruct, motivate, and advocate for others.
