The Department of Geography & Sustainability at The University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for a one-year appointment for a  Lecturer in Geographic Information Science & Technology (GIS&T), with the possibility for renewal . The instructor will be expected to teach four (4) classes per semester at the lower and upper division levels in GIS&T using both in-person and fully online delivery modes. The instructor will also have the opportunity to teach classes during summer and mini terms for additional pay. C a ndidates with experience in engaging GIS &T students with local communities are especially encouraged to apply . T he position comes with a faculty office in the Burchfiel Geography Building, use of a laptop computer, access to department research labs, and funds for conference travel or other professional development . Th is is a full-time, non tenure -track faculty position with a promotion ladder. This position is annually renewed subject to funding availability and adequate performance by the successful applicant .

The Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee maintains expertise in human geography, physical geography, sustainability, and GIS &T . The department offers a BS degree i n GIS&T, and BA degrees in both Geography and Sustainability, as well as MS and PhD degrees in Geography.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. by the initial start date, the ability to teach GIS&T courses, and some previou s teaching experience. The candidate must be able to physically relocat e to Knoxville, TN.
