Job Description: Arcadia University invites applications for a one-year, full time, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences beginning August 2024. We anticipate running a tenure-track search for this position in the Fall of 2024 for a start date of Fall 2025. The successful candidate for the Visiting Assistant Professor position would be eligible to apply. Best consideration for applications received by March 15, 2024.

  • The criminal justice program has a strong commitment to experiential and applied teaching, critical thinking, social justice, and working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Applicants should be prepared to teach courses in introduction to criminal justice, research methods, and/or prisons and corrections, and ideally at least one of the following areas: victimology, cybercrime and security, juvenile delinquency, drugs and society, or communities and crime.


  • Area of specialty can be Criminology or Criminal Justice
  • A Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, anthropology, or a related discipline is required; a J.D. alone will not be considered.
  • Qualified candidates should possess a doctorate together with teaching experience that includes an emphasis on student engagement and a focus on promoting student success.
