The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.

Harper College is now one of the nation’s premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving approximately 29,000 students annually in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. The College’s academic programs prepare students for rewarding careers and for transfer to four-year universities. QUALIFICATIONS JOB DESCRIPTION

***This position is located in Prospect Heights at the Learning and Career Center (LCC) satellite location - 1375 South Wolf Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070***

Schedule Information : Preference for evening hours (after 4pm) on weekdays, although the full building schedule is below and additional options may be available:

Sunday N.A.
Monday 8 am - 10 pm
Tuesday 8 am - 10 pm
Wednesday 8 am - 10 pm
Thursday 8 am - 10 pm
Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday TBD

Maximum hours per week : 12-20

Duties of Position :

Greets and assists Harper College Learning and Career Center students, faculty and staff. Provides excellent customer service to all site users. Answers phones; assists with applications, accessing the MyHarper student portal, and other technical support; assists with events and programs; and works with a variety of staff for special projects as needed to support faculty, students, and the community.

Multilingual students (especially speakers of Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, and other high-frequency world languages) are an asset, but languages are not a requirement of the job. An inclusive attitude, comfort with learning new technology, and excellent customer service orientation is key.

Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. is required, as is the ability to push heavier wheeled items.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Learning and Career Center (LCC) offers certificate programs, skill building courses and foundational courses at the Prospect Heights Center.
