Job Summary:

Assist with the operations and functions of the College's payroll processes to ensure all wages are provided in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable College, Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), Federal, and State laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines. Maintain adequate and accurate financial records to support the payroll process.

Job Duties:

Collection, verification, coding, and data entry into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) operating system required for benefit enrollment and payroll processing. Assist with updating rules and validation tables for the HRIS/ERP operating system. Assist with problem resolution in relation to HRIS/ERP operating system. Process employment verification forms requiring earnings information. Prepare check requests and on-line ACH and billing data for payroll liability and benefit payments. Provide back up and assist the Payroll Administrator with special projects. Extract and compile information for reporting purposes using established reporting tool. Process electronic data file transfers. Reconciliation of payroll liability accounts with general ledger. Prepare payroll Federal Tax Deposits, Quarterly 941 Tax reporting, Quarterly Unemployment reporting to ensure timely deposits and submissions without penalty. Assist with preparation of annual W-2 tax forms and reporting. Respond to inquiries from employees regarding payroll related issues including taxes, policies, procedures and leave reporting. Assist with leave reporting and time sheets for leave and pay. Assist with production of reports and information for Fiscal Year End closing and Financial Statements. Work cooperatively and effectively with other departments (internal and external) as appropriate. Assist with Federal, State and Internal Audits, as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience in payroll, accounting, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree or higher.
Experience with Banner or other Oracle based system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Comprehensive knowledge of payroll terminology, practices, and processes and basic accounting theory and practice.
Effective oral and written communication skills, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent time management, interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Ability to monitor, analyze and reconcile payroll accounts in the general ledger.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Ability to effectively analyze data and situations and make appropriate decisions.
Ability to handle a variety of complicated assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Must present a confident, professional demeanor.
Must be very detail oriented and have an exceptional ability to scan for accuracy and completeness.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications and computerized payroll system.
Must be able to discern meaning of a wide variety of policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

Pay Rate: $31,112 - $37,338 annual salary depending on experience
