The Utah Board of Higher Education invites nominations and applications for president of Salt Lake Community College, one of 16 institutions in the Utah System of Higher Education. The president is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Board. The president of SLCC represents an exciting opportunity to lead a forward-looking, multicampus, diverse community college focused on access and the future of higher education in a state with a rapidly growing population. The new president will be excited to make a long-term commitment to SLCC and its mission, and will exemplify SLCC’s values of collaboration, community, inclusivity, learning, innovation, integrity, and trust.

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is the largest 2-year college in Utah, proudly educating the state’s most diverse student body. We are an open-access, public institution that is part of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE). Located in the stunning Salt Lake Valley, we are among Utah’s largest higher education institutions, serving nearly 50,000 students annually at 8 locations and online. Few organizations in Utah have a more significant impact on the state’s economy, workforce, and education pipeline.

SLCC also operates Salt Lake Technical College, or Salt Lake Tech. Like many states, Utah is in extreme need of a skilled workforce. Salt Lake Tech delivers technical education, skills-based training, and corporate training that is most wanted by area employers, all while catering to a diverse student body with varied educational and career goals.

The ideal candidate will transparently engage with faculty, staff, students, the legislature, and the campus communities to lead a strategic plan with a unified vision for campus growth. They will work collaboratively with campus constituents inside and outside the institution to balance its mission of delivering transformative, accessible, and affordable technical and academic education with the institution’s business needs. The new president will partner with state leaders as the state manages the opportunities and challenges that arise with growth, including transportation, public safety, housing, and campus facilities needs. A master’s degree is required, and a terminal degree is preferred.
