The Director of Research’s primary responsibility is to maintain and enhance the Institute’s reputation as a major archaeology and anthropology research and education center. The successful candidate will both conduct research within the IAIS collections and archives, and disseminate the findings through public outreach, professional presentations and publications. 

Leading the research initiatives at the IAIS, the Director of Research is also responsible for: 

  • developing, coordinating and presenting professional development for Research & Collections staff
  • supporting the staff, interns, and visitors with collections-based knowledge
  • raising public awareness about the IAIS collections and the indigenous communities they represent through various programming and research opportunities 
  • consulting on the research, development, and implementation of public programs
  • taking part in appropriate staff meetings and Board of Trustees affiliated committees
