Assistant Teaching Professor, Psychology

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The Department of Psychology in the College of the Pacific at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a three-year Assistant Teaching Professor position (renewable, non-tenure track) beginning August 2024 or January 2025. Area of expertise within psychology is open.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Teaching a 3/3 course load on the semester system, including the following courses: Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Research Methods, Advanced Research Methods, and introductory and advanced courses within the applicant's area of expertise.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and experience working with diverse populations. Qualified ABDs will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Psychology or related field.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Psychology or related field.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
