The Department of Respiratory Care, in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University, invites applications for an 11-month, tenure-track, Assistant or Associate rank faculty member. Ideally, this position would be primarily located in Boise, Idaho, but this is not a requirement. This position will have teaching responsibilities in one or more of the three programs housed in the Department of Respiratory Care. As such, the faculty will be content experts for select courses and will be responsible for the delivery of didactic content in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online environments.

They will develop and maintain assigned courses using appropriate educational tools, such as LMS (Canvas), and be responsible for performing quality assurance tasks every semester for face-to-face, hybrid, online, and/or clinical courses. This includes providing input into curriculum development, student learning needs, and implementation of courses. The faculty will demonstrate ongoing teaching effectiveness, best practices, and professional commitment to teaching in a variety of environments, evidenced by positive student evaluations and staff feedback. This can also be accomplished by participating in ongoing professional development in areas of teaching, content specialty, and certifications, as appropriate.

Being a faculty member includes undergraduate and graduate student advising by providing students with constructive, encouraging, timely, and corrective feedback. Faculty advisors help undergraduate and graduate students formulate research projects, establish methodologies, discuss results, and prepare contributions for dissemination, ensuring that students’ work meets the standards of the University and the discipline. They work collectively to build and maintain a community that celebrates and values diversity and treats all stakeholders with dignity and respect. Advising can include student recruitment and interviews. It is critical that they are accessible to students in order to respond promptly to student questions through email, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments.

This position has active engagement in program, school, college, and university service. This includes attending faculty, department, school, college, and university meetings. This candidate will participate in other campus events as able and as requested by the Program Directors and/or Department Chair. If a remote position is offered, this position may receive a travel stipend to visit campus as needed.

Personal research requirements will vary by the candidate. Tenure-track faculty are allocated a variable percentage of annual workload requirements toward scholarly activity. The essential duties and responsibilities of faculty are assigned by the program directors in coordination with and final approval by the department chair. The rank offered will be commensurate with the candidate's background and level of experience. Tenure-track individuals will adhere to the tenure-eligibility requirements of the University. The start date for this position will be the Fall of 2024.
