Financial Coordinator 1

Coordinates the financial operations of a unit in a college or division. May oversee the activities of clerical financial support personnel.

  1. Maintains and reconciles accurate account balances on all accounts in revenues and expenditures for the unit.
  2. Coordinates the deposit of cash for the unit.
  3. Creates and provides financial summary reports for the college or division business manager; assists the business manager with budget cycles.
  4. Oversees and updates an internal accounting system which provides the database for posting and reconciliation capabilities to the Financial Reporting System (FRS).
  5. Oversees and schedules duties for staff and/or student workers in the preparation of vouchers, requisitions, SCRs, and travel documents; oversees the filing of financial documents and data entry of related financial information.
  6. Trains staff in the preparation of financial documents in compliance with university and college/division policies and procedures.
  7. May coordinate and maintain the payroll function for the unit; may coordinate property inventory and serve as property custodian for the unit.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Financial Coordinator 2

Coordinates the financial operations of a large or complex unit. May oversee the activities of clerical financial support personnel.

  1. Reconciles the unit's financial accounts and monitors revenue and expenditure budgets.
  2. Compiles recurring and ad hoc financial reports for management and faculty; advises management and faculty on status of accounts.
  3. May serve as liaison to Office of Grants and Contracts regarding financial issues.
  4. Oversees the cash handling function for the unit, including, but not limited to petty cash, gift transmittals and travel reimbursements.
  5. Oversees the preparation of financial documents; reviews financial documents for accuracy and availability of funds.
  6. Researches and corrects reconciliation discrepancies with reallocations and journal vouchers.
  7. Participates in the annual budget development process.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.


Qualifications :

Financial Coordinator 1

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience

Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Financial Coordinator 2

Bachelors and 1 year experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) years of directly job-related experience.
