The University of Arkansas seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Counseling (R0050221). The Assistant Professor of Counseling is for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor with qualifications and professional background sufficient to teach courses in Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Mental Health or Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university (CACREP accredited strongly preferred). ABD candidates will be considered provided the degree is conferred prior to the position start date. 
  • Licensed or Arkansas license-eligible in counseling specialty;
  • Experience in the teaching of counseling and knowledge about mental health, rehabilitation, and school counseling;
  • Experience with a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard);
  • Minimum of three (3) professional references.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in college/university teaching and student supervision;
  • Experience teaching across various platforms, i.e. face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid;
  • Demonstrated dedication to multicultural education and social justice (e.g., LGBTQ+, ethnic groups, social class, and disability status);
  • Evidence of a commitment to working collegially;
  • Training in specialty areas and teaching competency in areas that complement current faculty specialties as part of a multi-track large counseling program;
  • Membership in ACA;
  • Established record of or potential for accomplishing conference presentations and publishing in journals and/or books.
