Job Summary/Basic Function:
  • Leadership – Foster a collaborative environment that embraces technology, data accuracy, and attention to detail, and implements best practices to ensure the beneficial use and overall presentability of college-owned and operated property.
  • Financial Management – Work strategically to develop, foster, and maintain strategic partnerships with vendor suppliers, and 3rd party contractors to ensure department objectives are achieved cost-effectively. Serve as a technical advisor to procurement and business services.
  • Stewardship of College Property – In conjunction with standard operating procedures, annual and strategic planning initiatives ensure campus property is being maintained to the highest achievable standards and identify for tracking and action any conditions that fall outside acceptable criteria.
  • Technical Expertise – Ensure custodial services & EH&S are implementing best practices to achieve the desired SLA for campus property.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the custodial operations, & EH&S on campus including ALL custodial employees and vendor partners performing custodial functions on campus.
  • Serve as the Facilities department primary liaison for Conferences and Events managing and overseeing all activities related to event support.
  • Establish SLA and best practices for ALL campus support functions. Communicate and train all staff to ensure these standards are understood and achieved.
  • Develop and maintain core records and documents such as practices, and procedures to ensure the modernization and digitization of our program. Identify areas of operational improvement, and work with the AVP to implement those standards and policies.
  • Serve as the Facilities Department’s liaison to the 3rd party vendor manager for campus dining and the bookstore in concert with the AVP and Business Service Center.
  • Manage and oversee the departmental and college-wide waste management program including both operations and capital improvements.
  • This position is categorized as essential to campus operations and is tasked with onsite response requirements during campus emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Facilities Management or relevant experience in these fields with a proven track record of success or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in increasing responsible management in manufacturing, commercial real estate, health care, large-scale complex facilities, or higher education settings.
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly and appropriately respond to the varying needs of a large residential community.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise those engaged in a variety of custodial functions and best practices for facilities cleanliness standards, responsive professional customer service
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate well with employees verbally in person and in writing at the individual, team, and departmental level .
  • The ability to convey technical information in a way that is understood by a broad audience.
  • Knowledge of property management principles, and vendor management process, along with methods and processes used in large-scale housekeeping and custodial operations.
  • Financial and budget management principals
  • Proficient technology skills including Google suite of products, and Microsoft suite of products; i.e. Excel, and Word along with familiarity with the principles of a CMMS Platform like School Dude for work order-tracking.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Experience working in a supervisor capacity within an institutional housekeeping and/or support function.
  • Experience overseeing an in-house dining service operation.
  • Experience managing an annual operating and capital budget and tracking variances.

All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.

Physical Demands

Office environment along with walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, reaching, and working outside periodically as job and project assignments require.
