Our clinical program prepares dental hygiene graduates who can provide comprehensive dental hygiene care to adult patients with periodontal disease.

Schedule Information: 7:45 am -5:45 pm. Saturdays & occasional substitute during weekdays as needed. Days will vary and will be confirmed with the Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator

***This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates for the above subjects. As teaching needs arise, these applications will be reviewed for possible interviews***

ABOUT THE TEAM

With continuous advancement in patient carer, health care workers with training in the latest technology and best practices are in constant demand. The Harper College Health Careers Division prepares students for a career in a variety of health settings, from hospitals and clinics, to nursing homes and community based organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities include: Assessment of patients’ ability to undergo dental hygiene treatment; we provide care to many adult patients with moderate to advanced periodontal disease.

Administration, or supervision of students’ performance in the administration of local anesthesia, both field and nerve blocks: IAN, PSA, IO, MSA, ASA, GP, and NP.

Evaluation of student performance and competency related to dentition chartings, sealant applications, study models, pain management procedures, and radiographic image capture and interpretation.

Other responsibilities are detailed in the job description provided to candidates participating in an interview.

Candidates will need to be available to attend at least two annual department meetings and must be willing to actively participate in program hosted and/or other recommended professional development activities/courses to maintain compliance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation’s requirements for faculty to maintain current background in educational theory, methodologies and concepts relative to teaching assignments, (as well as required continuing education for licensure maintenance).
