Program Manager

Primary Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Equity and Academic Partnerships (AVP), the Program Manager provides advanced operational and strategic support to the AVP, Directors, and departments within the Equity sub-division. This includes Center for Identity and Inclusion (CII), Religious and Spiritual Life (RSL), Military & Veteran Student Center, and the Community Involvement Program (CIP). This role is responsible for the administrative operation and programmatic support for the area. Serves as a liaison for other departments, the Division of Student Life, and members of the University community.



Essential Functions:
  • Provides high-quality customer service to students and staff in managing the day-to-day operations of the Equity areas.
  • Coordinates Equity activities and events communication, calendar scheduling with Student Life and University calendars, including, but not limited to: Facilitating arrangements/submitting FAMIS requests for facilities and equipment set-up, and arranging technical support as needed, and arranging meetings, travel as needed.
  • Utilizes University Procard to purchase and in anticipation of upcoming department programs, division and university events. Completes and processes procurement documents in compliance with purchasing reconciliation policies and procedures.
  • Submits necessary documents and requests to the Business Manager for setup and payment to vendors, including contracts in a timely manner.
  • Posts student jobs in University system (Handshake), processes electronic personnel actions (EPAFs), timesheets and other hiring paperwork for student workers as required.
  • Assists in organizing Equity coverage at campus events, orientation information sessions, Yield events, and other relevant outreach programs.
  • Maintains detailed logistics and tracking for programming and events including budget, marketing and timeline updates, complex calendaring, prioritizing numerous meetings, administrative events and other appointments. Manages Microsoft Teams channels, notes, documents, resources and supporting member access.
  • Supports staff in coordination of logistics for meetings/events and other activities, which include outreach to students, Registered Student Organizations, and Equity facility usage (in collaboration with Facilities Scheduler).
  • Maintains a variety of department records both electronically and manually including, but not limited to, confidential information, files, and records on students of the University. Utilizes technology to track student usage and attendance at department programs to generate reports.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to work successfully with diverse populations with a commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
  • Attends and participates in Division meetings.
  • Participates in staff trainings to continue ongoing professional development.
  • Maintains, develops, and improves administrative and operational processes as needed.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or requested.



This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two (2) years of related work experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize resources and establish priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite, experience using databases and advanced experience in Internet navigation and research.
  • Web maintenance experience.
  • Ability to adapt to emerging technology.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities, correctly interpret directions and work well under tight deadlines.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work performed during standard business hours, Monday - Friday, but may require occasional evenings and weekend hours for various Department, University, or Division events.

Hiring Range: $66,560 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
